A well done café is a work of art in it’s own right. It’s the ambiance as much as it is the coffee, right? Well, no. They’re not really on equal footing: a well-brewed cup is well-brewed cup no matter where you are. But the ambience; well it certainly sets the tone and determines weather you linger for another … and another … and another …

Made a Verve Pilgrimage of sorts today. Over the hill and through the woods to Santa Cruz to the house of Verve, I went. Delicious cappuccino with the Winter Streetlevel espresso blend. Laid back vibe. Beautiful roasting facility next door.

Remedy:
Taken on Telegraph Ave. in Oakland.Remedy is a new café opening, according to its owner, in “around six or seven weeks”. They are serving coffees from Ritual. Currently, the café consists of this little cart out front (à la Four Barrel and Sightglass both of whom kept or keep a cart as an ad hoc [...]

(Untitled):
The Creamery, another hip little SOMA addition, has a simple menu with crépes and…and…well, I guess I was entrnced by the crépe menu. It also carries Ritual coffee. Both in the bag and on the bar and with very recent roast dates. That’s a good thing.I had other plans so I did not get to [...]

Is Four Barrel going to begin roasting soon?
I was in Four Barrel Coffee today and witnessed what, I believe, may be the last piece of the roasting operation puzzle for them. There was a monolithic oriented strand board box sitting smack dab in the middle of the front of the house as I walked in. Not [...]

It’s in the Mission. It’s funky. It’s in an alley. My review of Four Barrel Coffee on Yelp …

Blue Bottle Coffee opens it’s long awaited (at least it was for me) San Francisco Mint Plaza location just in time for me to make it a regular stop on my twice weekly trek to SFSU. Thanks!
I happily went out of my way to drop by their kiosk in Hayes Valley all last semester. My [...]
